Just wondering if anyone else has had a massive bruise on the injection site, all of a sudden? Never happened before but this time it was about 4 inches by 3 inches on my tum! Unsure
Wondering about doing a leg next time. Does anyone else inject into their leg - and is that better than stomach? (it sounds like it will be more painful... which is why I haven't tried it before!).

Hopefully someone has some advice... I look like I've been beaten up!!

Hello

I started Humira on June 8th but that is one thing I have not had is bruising. However, once I injected
into my thigh but boy it did hurt big time. So won't do that again.

Hi Anne

I have had bruises, but put it down to nerves and pressing too hard! I'm a bit gentler now and have fewer bruises. Have to agree on the injecting into the leg front though - it is more painful than the stomach. I do do it occasionally, as I was told by the nurse to vary the injection sites but only when I'm feeling brave!

Hi Anne,

I get bruises every time since I switched from syringe to pen, but only small ones. If you get the same next time ring the rheumy nurse just to check.

One bit of advice.....I find injecting the thigh extremely painful so I don't do it there now, I stick to the tum where I've got plenty of flab!

I agree-I found injecting in the thigh just too uncomfortable,
I have never had a bruise after in jecting Humira but as a diabetic I do bruise sometimes after my insulin ijections. This is due to hitting a blood vessel.
I wonder if you are pressing on too hard? Whereabouts on the stomach do you inject and do you have lots of spare flab like me or you a bit leaner?
YES I'VE CHANGED, PAIN DOES THAT TO PEOPLE.

I had a whopping bruise few months ago after husband "helped" me inject with pen as my hands were bad at the time
so I can only presume that my bruise was due to different technique orexcess pressure. I tried injecting into thigh in the past it hurt like hell Luv Glenx

Hi Anne,

Occasionally I have got a bruise after injecting humira - it seems to depend on where I "hit." I never inject into my thighs, as it hurts far too much. My tummy has a cushion of flab to soften the blow!!

Hi Everyone
Thanks for all your help. Much appreciated. Sounds like thigh is definitely out... so we'll go on the other side next week!! May be I was too heavy handed this time. I was on holiday in the caravan at the time, so out of my usual routine.
We'll go gently this time... may be it was the fact that I put my jeans on straight afterwards!! Sounds like pressure and technique are important too.
I'm at home this time... so hopefully... I'll keep with it though as my DAS score has gone from 6.45 to 2.40 since being on it!!
Thanks again everyone.

Anne

A bit late joining your discussion. I presume you have been told that you must alternate sides each week and never inject in the same place twice. Definitely do not go for the thigh as it is very painful.

I am glad the Humira is working for you.

Hi jackie
Yes thanks. I am doing alternate sides. Maybe I should vary the place on each side too!
